Astar Network introduces zkEVM, a Layer 2 rollup powered by ZK and developed using Polygon CDK, alongside an initial chain integrated with the AggLayer. Astar aims to showcase seamless interoperability with Polygon zkEVM and upcoming blockchains connected to the AggLayer, enabling smooth cross-chain transactions.

Astar zkEVM is a collaborative effort with Gelato, a blockchain framework provider, leveraging Polygon CDK to build and deploy advanced blockchains for various projects, particularly in Japan's business, entertainment, and gaming sectors. By utilizing Polygon CDK technology and robust security measures, zkEVM promises instant finality and Ethereum ecosystem withdrawals.

The recent launch of the AggLayer's initial phase, featuring a bridge to Ethereum for cross-chain transactions, has set the stage for Astar zkEVM's integration. Unlike other multi-chain L2 ecosystems and rollups, Astar zkEVM and Polygon zkEVM will utilize a unified bridge for their connection. This approach ensures consistency as two ZK-enhanced protocols link through the same bridge.

The successful integration of Astar zkEVM with the AggLayer required collaboration among skilled architects representing Gelato, Astar, and Polygon. The forthcoming integration with Polygon CDK will streamline the process of connecting chains to the AggLayer, building upon insights gained from the initial implementation.
