Powered by a partnership between Asymmetry Finance, Ampleforth, and Paid Network, afUSD enters the fray with a fully on-chain synthetic dollar solution. Leveraging Ampleforth's supply adjustment mechanism, afUSD offers an elastic supply, dynamically responding to market conditions to stabilize its value.

Unlike traditional stablecoins backed by reserves, algorithmic stablecoins like afUSD rely on sophisticated algorithms to maintain price stability. Asymmetry's initiative draws on the expertise of industry veterans, including former members of Genesis Global Trading, Quantstamp, and LayerZero, among others.

A key distinction of afUSD lies in its resilience against real-world financial stress, a feature lacking in previous algorithmic stablecoin attempts. Notably, Asymmetry highlights the collapse of TerraUSD (UST) in May 2022 as a cautionary tale.
