Avail, a blockchain platform focusing on integrating Web3 and enhancing data availability for scalable applications, has joined forces with dWallet Network to introduce programmable native Bitcoin to rollups within the Avail ecosystem.

Anurag Arjun, one of Polygon's co-founders, spun off Avail as a distinct entity from Polygon in 2023. Originating within Polygon Labs in late 2020 and publicly unveiled in mid-2021, Avail is set to launch its mainnet later in 2024.

Through dWallet's decentralized multiparty computation (MPC) infrastructure, smart contracts leveraging rollups on Avail DA can now handle native BTC programmatically while maintaining user ownership. This marks a departure from many existing Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions that rely on potentially risky cross-chain mechanisms like bridges, requiring users to relinquish control of their BTC.

The collaboration is aimed at leveraging dWallet's MPC infrastructure to enhance Bitcoin's functionalities, enabling the creation of native Bitcoin rollups for more efficient and secure transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain. This partnership is designed to support a broader range of operations beyond simple transactions for improved efficiency and security.

With the integration facilitated by Avail Nexus, developers can utilize Avail Fusion's enhanced security from assets like BTC and ETH to strengthen the security of the Avail ecosystem. This integration with the dWallet Network introduces a native multi-chain staking/restaking solution to secure the consensus of various blockchains.

The integration of dWallet technology utilizes a 2PC-MPC protocol that allows Avail rollup smart contracts to create Bitcoin signatures securely. It also ensures logic enforcement by requiring users to finalize signatures, preventing collusion and asset theft.

By combining Avail DA, Nexus, and Fusion Security solutions, Avail aims to create a unified Web3 ecosystem. Avail DA serves as the foundational layer for diverse rollups, Nexus uses Avail DA for ecosystem-wide coordination, and Fusion Security will enhance consensus mechanisms across a network of rollups and blockchains.
