Studies from Bybit and Toluna reveal that 34% of boomers spend "a few days" on due diligence before investing, which is 50% more than their younger counterparts. In North America, 64% of investors spend less than two hours on research before investing, often leading to hasty decisions influenced by trends such as meme coins.

Boomers, particularly those who are retired, have more time for comprehensive research, making them more knowledgeable and patient investors. Their focus on the technical aspects of tokenomics, utility, and competitive landscape is likely to yield better investment outcomes compared to the younger generation's tendency to prioritize reputational factors.

In a February interview with Bloomberg, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz reiterated his prediction that Bitcoin’s market capitalization, around $1.3 trillion as of June, could surpass gold’s roughly $15 trillion, partly due to investments from boomers. He emphasized that this could be the first time in Bitcoin's history that true price discovery is occurring, driven by the shift in investment preferences across generations.

Beyond direct investments, the intergenerational wealth transfer is another significant factor likely to drive the next market cycle. With trillions of dollars set to be inherited, and millennials expected to hold five times more wealth by 2030, the demand for crypto is poised to grow. As digitally literate younger generations become the primary beneficiaries of this wealth, they are likely to favor cryptocurrencies over traditional assets.
