Binance Global CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao has refuted claims that the company is considering severing ties with its US business partners and delisting tokens from US-based projects, such as Circle's USD Coin (USDC). These reports emerged following heightened regulatory scrutiny of Binance Holdings by US authorities in recent weeks.

According to Bloomberg, Binance Holdings was allegedly reviewing its relationships with intermediary firms like banks and service providers, reevaluating venture-capital investments in the US, and possibly delisting tokens like USDC. However, these reports do not impact Binance US.

CZ addressed the reports on Twitter, emphasizing that "Blockchain has no borders," and questioned, "What even is a US-based token?" He noted that Binance has temporarily withdrawn from certain potential investments or bids on bankrupt US companies and will seek regulatory approval first. His comments imply that the reports may have been overstated.

Binance Holdings does not directly serve US customers, who are instead referred to the independent entity Binance.US. Both Binance and Binance.US have been under investigation by US regulators. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reportedly probing the connections between Binance.US and trading firms linked to CZ.

On February 8, Binance Holdings suspended US dollar bank transfers without explanation, suggesting possible banking issues. On February 13, the New York Department of Financial Services ordered Paxos Trust to cease minting the Binance stablecoin BUSD following reports of a pending SEC lawsuit over the coin, leading to a surge in Binance withdrawals.

Binance's chief strategy officer, Patrick Hillmann, stated on February 15 that the company anticipates US regulators will impose monetary penalties due to past compliance issues.

These developments come amid increased scrutiny of cryptocurrency companies by US regulators this year, following multiple industry disruptions. Despite this, Binance remains committed to conducting cost-benefit analyses and adjusting its operations as needed to safeguard its global user base.
