The Binance ecosystem continues to solidify its dominance in the Web3 space, especially outside Western countries. This growth is notable even as the Bitcoin price struggles to rally above $72,000. On-chain data indicates an increased rotation of crypto cash into the altcoin industry. The approval of spot Ether ETFs in Hong Kong and the United States underscores the rising demand from institutional investors.

BNB, Binance's native coin, has seen a substantial price increase of over 200% since the beginning of the year, retesting its all-time high (ATH) of around $700. Although the large-cap altcoin, with a fully diluted valuation of approximately $99 billion and an average daily trading volume of around $1.4 billion, recently dipped 8% to hover around $643, its impressive performance is undeniable.

The surge in BNB's price to a new ATH of around $717 coincided with the beginning of a four-month imprisonment for former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao. Zhao is serving a short-term sentence in the United States for allegedly ignoring US money laundering regulations on Binance since its inception. Besides his imprisonment, Zhao and Binance were fined approximately $4.3 billion by the US government and faced other settlement deals.

Despite these challenges, Binance's value has soared above $100 billion. With Binance executives receiving 80 million BNB during the initial coin offering, experts estimate that Changpeng Zhao's net worth has risen to around $38.5 billion, making him the richest inmate in the United States.

This remarkable rise in BNB's value and Zhao's personal wealth amid regulatory hurdles highlights the enduring strength and appeal of the Binance ecosystem. It also underscores the potential for significant growth in the altcoin sector, driven by institutional interest and strategic market expansions.
