Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria on charges of tax evasion and money laundering, is facing a worsening health crisis in prison. Despite a court order to transfer Gambaryan to a hospital for medical treatment, Nigerian prison officials have ignored the directive.

Gambaryan, who is a U.S. citizen and Binance's head of financial crimes compliance, collapsed in court last week due to severe illness, including malaria and a throat infection. His lawyer informed the judge that Gambaryan requires comprehensive medical attention.

The judge ordered that Gambaryan be treated at a hospital chosen by his lawyer or one recommended by prison authorities. However, Gambaryan's wife, Yuki Gambaryan, stated that the authorities have not allowed him to leave the prison, which is causing his illness.

Gambaryan's trial has been postponed to June 20 due to his poor health. He is also facing separate charges of tax evasion, with his arraignment adjourned to June 14.

Binance's CEO, Richard Teng, has advocated for Gambaryan's release, stating that the detention of its executives sets a dangerous precedent. Gambaryan's wife and lawyers continue to pray for his well-being and call for his immediate release, citing the lack of proper medical care in the prison.
