Community backlash over the ZK airdrop centered on concerns about Sybil attack vulnerability and perceived unfairness in distribution. Binance has responded by announcing the listing of ZKsync (ZK) trading pairs and launching a token distribution initiative to address these issues.

The ZKsync trading pairs will go live on Binance starting at 8AM UTC today, enabling spot trading with BTC, USDT, FDUSD, and Turkish Lira pairs. Users can deposit ZK ahead of time, with withdrawals opening one day post-listing. The listing coincides closely with the start of the official ZKsync airdrop claims.

The community criticism, which surfaced after Bybit initiated ZKsync deposits on June 14, includes questioning whether influencers labeling ZKsync as a "scam" is due to dissatisfaction with the airdrop's alignment with community expectations. Users, such as 0xKingdra.eth on X, summarized discontent regarding the exclusion of long-term supporters from the airdrop eligibility, with a majority of tokens distributed to a small number of wallets, while some holding NFTs and less popular tokens received disproportionate allocations.

Acknowledging ongoing community concerns, Binance clarified its token distribution strategy in response to the backlash surrounding the ZK airdrop. The exchange plans to distribute 10.5 million ZK tokens to approximately 52,500 users. To qualify, users must have conducted at least 50 ZKsync Era transactions between February 2023 and March 2024, spread over at least seven different months during that period, and must not have participated in the official ZK Nation airdrop program. Distribution will occur on a first-come, first-served basis, with the initial distribution scheduled for June 25.
