Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, known as BitBoy Crypto, is doubling down on his bullish Bitcoin predictions despite the recent market downturn that saw the top cryptocurrency tumble from recent highs.

In a tweet to his over 1 million followers, Armstrong remained steadfastly optimistic that Bitcoin is still on track to hit the much-anticipated $100,000 price level this year.

"Bear market back on? Not a chance," Armstrong declared after BTC took a 5% dive below $67,000 on April 13th. "We're going to $100k bitcoin before you know it."

The staunch vote of confidence from the popular crypto analyst came as a sell-off gripped the broader digital asset markets. According to data from CoinGlass, over $186 million worth of Bitcoin positions were liquidated over the past 24 hours as prices plummeted.

Open interest in BTC derivatives dropped nearly 6% to $35.5 billion, suggesting even professional traders were trimming exposure amid the turbulent conditions.

Van de Poppe noted that the current dip presented an opportunity to accumulate discounted altcoin exposure, with many tokens trading at deep discounts relative to Bitcoin's market dominance.

He argued that Bitcoin's strength will ultimately buoy the broader altcoin markets, feeding the current bull run which has been turbo-charged by spot Bitcoin ETF launches and in anticipation of the 2024 halving event.
