The widespread interest in Bitcoin (BTC) continues as Google searches for the cryptocurrency have surpassed those of popular music artists Taylor Swift and Beyonce.

In Galaxy Digital’s latest market insight report, it was revealed that the term "Bitcoin" has garnered more searches on Google compared to "Taylor Swift" and "Beyonce".

Bitcoin's Popularity Amid Significant Milestones

Mike Novogratz highlighted that Bitcoin's Google searches peaked in March at the highest level observed in the past year. This surge in searches coincides with Bitcoin's positive growth trend towards the end of the first quarter of 2024.

March marked a significant milestone for BTC as it achieved a new all-time high (ATH) surpassing $73,000. The overall price of Bitcoin experienced a notable increase of up to 13.94% during March, influencing other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum to rise by 4.82% in the same period.

Following the approval of the spot Bitcoin ETF by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in January, substantial attention was drawn to the new product. Big investment companies like Grayscale Investments, BlackRock, and Fidelity Investments witnessed significant capital inflows, resulting in a trading volume exceeding $100 billion within a few weeks. This development significantly boosted Bitcoin's popularity and market adoption.

The escalated interest in Bitcoin was fueled by global initiatives, such as the Japanese Government's decision through the Government Pension Investment Fund (GDIF) to diversify investments by allocating funds to Bitcoin. This move aimed to mitigate potential risks stemming from market volatility and economic uncertainties.

President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador's enthusiastic endorsement of Bitcoin has also made a substantial impact on Bitcoin's global visibility. Bukele reaffirmed El Salvador’s commitment to holding Bitcoin as a strategic asset, disclosing that the nation's Bitcoin holdings are currently valued at around $400 million. El Salvador's adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender has been a key driver in the country's economic strategy.

While El Salvador’s Bitcoin holdings are impressive, they are dwarfed by those of MicroStrategy. The prominent company led by Michael Saylor holds a staggering 214,000 BTC valued at over $15 billion. Milestones achieved by MicroStrategy and other influential firms, coupled with the excitement surrounding their substantial Bitcoin holdings, have contributed to Bitcoin becoming a trending topic of internet searches.
