VanEck's Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), HODL, is off to a flying start! According to a recent filing, the first quarter of 2024 saw a net asset increase of a whopping $109 million. That translates to HODL holding a cool $619 million worth of Bitcoin (around 8,711 BTC).

This strong performance comes on the heels of the SEC's historic approval of VanEck's (and 10 other) Bitcoin ETFs in January, a major milestone for the crypto industry. However, clouds are gathering on the horizon for Ethereum enthusiasts.

VanEck's CEO, Jan van Eck, isn't optimistic about the SEC greenlighting a spot Ethereum ETF anytime soon. He even expects their own application, along with Cathie Wood's ARK Invest's, to be rejected (decisions due May 23rd and 24th respectively).

This potential delay in Ethereum ETFs has some industry figures fuming. VanEck advisor Gabor Gurbacs slammed current crypto regulations as stifling innovation and hindering a healthy market. He blames this on "inadequate regulatory frameworks" and accuses regulators of prioritizing their own interests over fostering innovation.
