However, despite the high expectations surrounding the protocol's launch on April 20, the subsequent price performance of Runes has been less than stellar.

As the Bitcoin halving occurred on the same day as the launch of Runes, many enthusiasts and speculators were eager to mint Runes in the first block following the halving. This led to a surge in transaction fees, with Bitcoin speculators collectively paying millions of dollars to miners to secure a spot in Bitcoin's 840,000th block. One prominent figure within the Runes community is Leonidas, an educator and influencer known for his association with Casey Rodarmor's projects, including Ordinals and Runes. Leonidas has been actively promoting his own Rune, DOG GO TO THE MOON, on platforms like Twitter and X, where he has made bullish price predictions and sought donations from supporters. Despite the enthusiasm surrounding DOG GO TO THE MOON, its trading volume remains relatively low, casting doubt on its potential for significant price appreciation.

One of the distinguishing features of Runes is their unique ticker symbols, which are deliberately designed to be longer than traditional symbols. This design choice reflects Rodarmor's vision for Runes as a novel protocol that breaks away from conventional standards.
