As the 2024 U.S. election approaches, Bitcoin's significance among American voters is becoming increasingly evident, driven by macroeconomic developments and its maturation as an asset, according to a recent survey by Grayscale. The poll revealed that around 47% of American voters expect to include crypto as part of their portfolio, highlighting the rising prominence of the topic in the upcoming election.

Approximately 32% of voters indicated they are more open to learning about crypto as an investment. This interest is likely supported by inflation concerns, with 28% of voters identifying inflation as the most pressing issue in the upcoming election.

Geopolitical tensions, polarizing political discourse, and ongoing inflation have pushed more U.S. voters towards Bitcoin. Additionally, major developments such as the approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have further fueled this interest, according to the survey.

“It seems clear that crypto will increasingly be considered by policymakers and candidates across all offices that are preparing to run for office in the 2024 election,” Grayscale noted.

Former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for 2024, has recently voiced his support for the U.S. crypto economy, emphasizing the need for the U.S. to take a leadership role in the global crypto race. In response to Trump’s pro-crypto stance, billionaire Mark Cuban commented on the potential electoral impact of crypto regulation. "If Joe Biden loses, there is a good chance you will be able to thank Gary Gensler and the SEC," Cuban wrote in an X post.

Grayscale’s survey, conducted before Trump’s public support for crypto, showed voters are divided on which party is more favorable to the crypto industry. An equal percentage of voters, 30% each, believe that both the Democratic and Republican parties have the most favorable views towards crypto policies.

Meanwhile, the price of Bitcoin has seen a slight increase, rising 1.3% to $68,700 in the past 24 hours, according to The Block’s crypto price dashboard.

The survey underscores the growing importance of cryptocurrency in the political landscape, with Bitcoin emerging as a key issue that could influence voter decisions and policy directions in the 2024 election.
