What is BitTorrent Chain?

BitTorrent Chain, sometimes known as "BTTC," was introduced in December of 2021. It is a heterogeneous cross-chain interoperability protocol on Tron and a blockchain scalability solution. Through the BTCC Bridge, it facilitates the cross-transfer of assets across Ethereum Virtual Machine blockchains, including the Ethereum blockchain and BNB Smart Chain. With its token mapping technique, BTTC Bridge supports over 100 popular tokens. Token mapping is the process used to identify and categorize digital assets.

The proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism is also used by independent validators to safeguard the network, and average gas prices are less than $0.01, which drastically reduces transaction costs. To build blocks, verify transactions, participate in PoS consensus, and submit checkpoints, validators stake BTT.

The validators routinely pack and send the BTTC blocks to the Ethereum, Tron, and BNB Smart Chain networks in cross-chain communication. Checkpoints are these frequently provided materials. In addition to the transaction fees, validators get checkpoint awards for their efforts. Participants in BTTC may also cast ballots and win BTT tokens as prizes. Additionally, the BTTC makes it easier for developers to migrate to and construct decentralized apps (DApps) on the chain by facilitating smart contract extension using sidechains.

How BTTC Works

Unlike the typical client-server approach of content distribution, files requested in a peer-to-peer networks are often served by peers rather than servers. To offer the information that others wish to download, it is never guaranteed that users on the internet will have the same software installed on their machines. Furthermore, when their download is finished, some users, referred to as leechers, may stop using the P2P network, preventing other users from downloading files from their computers.

To avoid leeching problems, BitTorrent makes use of seeds, peers, a central tracker, swarms, and tit-for-tat rank. Users who download BitTorrent files to upload for other users are referred to as seeders, and the files themselves are known as seeds once they have completed downloading in the user's system. Peers are other users of the P2P network that seeders distribute these torrent files with. There must be at least one seed in the BitTorrent network for the download of your desired content to start.
