BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust (FBTC) have achieved another milestone by joining the top 20 exchange-traded funds with the longest streak of continuous inflows in history.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted on April 8 that these two Bitcoin ETFs have experienced uninterrupted inflows since their launch 59 trading days ago, outperforming 99.9% of all ETFs launched since the inception of the market in the 1990s. As of the end of 2022, there were approximately 9000 ETFs globally.

If the trend of inflows continues for another 11 days, IBIT and FBTC will break into the top 10 ranking.

The remarkable performance of BlackRock and Fidelity's Bitcoin ETFs is attributed to several factors, including growing interest from institutional investors in cryptocurrencies, concerns about inflation, and the search for alternative investments amidst global economic uncertainty.

These ETFs offer a regulated and secure avenue for investors to incorporate Bitcoin into their portfolios, circumventing the security and complexity challenges associated with direct cryptocurrency ownership.

IBIT and FBTC also lead in terms of net inflow amounts. As of April 5, IBIT’s net assets totaled nearly $15 billion, while FBTC's stood at $8 billion.

The introduction of spot Bitcoin ETFs follows years of regulatory hurdles and skepticism from financial authorities like the SEC, which cited concerns about market volatility and manipulation risks associated with cryptocurrencies.

The exceptional performance of these ETFs has raised expectations for the introduction of more financial products based on digital assets, potentially expanding to include ETFs for other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum.
