BLK has launched the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund in the British Virgin Islands in collaboration with Securitize, a company specializing in asset tokenization. As a major player in investment management, BlackRock has submitted its fund documents to the U.S. SEC.

While the document doesn't specify the assets the fund will hold, given Securitize's involvement, it's likely connected to the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), a term referring to various assets represented by tokens on a blockchain.

Following BlackRock's filing, the native token of Ondo Finance, ONDO, surged by 20% and has seen an additional 12% increase in the past 24 hours, surpassing the CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20) and Bitcoin (BTC). Interestingly, Ondo operates a platform for real-world assets (RWA).

Blockchain data indicates that $100 million in Circle's USDC stablecoin on the Ethereum network was transferred to an address associated with a Securitize deployer, suggesting a seed investment in the fund.

This development follows BlackRock's foray into digital asset funds, including the registration of a spot Bitcoin ETF in January, which accumulated over $15 billion in assets under management. Additionally, the company filed for a spot Ether ETF in 2023.

According to BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, BTC and ETH are leading the way for tokenization, and he firmly believes it represents the future.

Tokenizing real-world assets is expanding at the intersection of digital assets and traditional finance, offering the opportunity to place conventional assets on the blockchain for faster settlements and greater efficiency.
