BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has filed an amended S-1 registration statement for its proposed Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF), the iShares Ethereum Trust. This move follows the recent approval of 19b-4 forms for eight Ethereum ETFs, including BlackRock's, by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, these ETFs still require their S-1 registration statements to become effective before they can begin trading.

In its amended S-1 form, BlackRock disclosed significant information about its seed capital investor. The filing revealed that "on May 21, 2024, the Seed Capital Investor, an affiliate of the Sponsor, subject to conditions, purchased the Seed Creation Baskets, comprising 400,000 Shares at a per-Share price equal to $25.00." BlackRock also indicated that these shares will be listed and traded under the ticker symbol "ETHA."

The SEC has recently initiated discussions with issuers regarding their S-1 forms, though the timeline for final approval remains uncertain. Analysts speculate that the process could extend over several weeks.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas interpreted BlackRock's amended S-1 filing as a positive development. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Balchunas commented, "Prob see rest roll in soon. Then prob one more round of fine-tune comments from Staff. End of June launch a legit possibility altho keeping my o/u date as July 4th."

This filing marks another step forward in BlackRock's efforts to list and trade its Ethereum ETF, reflecting the broader push among financial firms to capitalize on the growing interest in cryptocurrency investment products.
