The BNB Chain core development team has announced plans to enhance network efficiency by introducing native liquid staking on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

This move comes as part of the transition to migrate functionalities from the BNB Beacon Chain to BSC, with the former scheduled to be completely phased out by June 2024. BNB Chain aims to transfer these features to BSC before the shutdown.

Enabling liquid staking on BSC will empower ecosystem participants to secure the network while maintaining the liquidity of their assets. Although the specific rollout date for this feature has not been disclosed, BNB Chain anticipates its implementation in April or May.

The core development team of BNB Chain shared with Cointelegraph that this transition to BSC is aimed at streamlining the network, enhancing efficiency, mitigating security risks, and meeting current technological demands. They emphasized that this move is part of the company's growth strategy to increase the appeal of the BNB Chain to users.

With liquid staking, users can participate in decentralized finance activities without compromising the utility of their assets, as they will possess liquid staking tokens representing their staked crypto assets. Holders will have the option to delegate their BNB to a liquidity pool or directly to the validator, providing increased flexibility and security for the BNB Chain network.

Furthermore, the integration of liquid staking and maximum extractable value (MEV) optimization for the BNB Chain will occur simultaneously. Validators with MEV enabled will have the opportunity to enhance their staking returns through MEV revenue, which will ultimately contribute to Liquidity Staking rewards. This cohesive approach aims to provide additional incentives and benefits for BNB holders participating in the network.
