Binance-supported Bitcoin restaking startup BounceBit has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the year, focusing on enhancing the Bitcoin ecosystem through a series of innovative initiatives. This announcement emphasizes their commitment to building on Bitcoin's strengths without becoming a sidechain or chasing fleeting trends like Runes and BRC-20 tokens.

In a blog post dated May 20, BounceBit clarified that it does not plan to create a Layer 2 solution for the Bitcoin network. The company believes that there is no substantial demand for such solutions and that popular trends often fail to meet long-term needs. Instead, BounceBit aims to blend the best aspects of centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) to bring new value to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

BounceBit’s approach centers on improving the utility of Bitcoin as an asset without changing its fundamental technology. They plan to implement several upgrades to their proof-of-stake layer-1 chain, enhancing the performance of their EVM execution layer and developing a new Mempool module to increase transaction throughput.

Other network improvements include refining the communication between the EVM and Cosmos SDK and creating a shared security client (SSC) module. This SSC module will enable other projects to leverage the liquidity provided by BounceBit's BTC restaking chain.

Additionally, BounceBit intends to introduce "CeDeFi" to its BounceBit Portal, offering users more asset management options and a broader range of products to cover various use cases. Although the roadmap does not specify exact implementation dates, these updates reflect a significant step forward for the project.
