Brave Rewards announces the initiation of self-custody BAT payouts, initially restricted to a select group of invitees before becoming available to all Brave users globally. BAT earned through Brave Rewards will be transferred to users' self-owned wallet addresses on the Solana blockchain.

The release of rewards on Solana will begin with an invite-only process for a limited number of early users, facilitated through communication within the Brave Rewards interface. Users can accept the invitation to connect their Solana address and receive BAT directly on-chain.

To link a Solana address with Brave Rewards, users must verify their address using a Solana wallet, either through Brave Wallet or an intermediary browser extension like Phantom.

BAT rewards will be distributed monthly to users' Solana addresses through Wormhole-bridged SPL-BAT.

Brave chose Solana for on-chain BAT distribution due to its efficient transactions and cost-effectiveness, ensuring widespread distribution of BAT earnings among users.

This new approach to BAT allocation streamlines the enrollment process to Web3, with withdrawals incurring no fees as long as the Solana wallet is under the user's control. Users can earn BAT on-chain by supporting their preferred Brave creators and engaging in token swaps within Brave Wallet. Additionally, they can purchase .SOL domains from Bonafide, earn trading fees through Orca liquidity pools, and participate in NFT minting and purchasing with SPL-BAT.

Recent developments on the Brave blockchain include an on-chain contributions feature that enables users to support their preferred developers using Web3 standard methods, similar to the SPL-BAT they receive.
