Elon Musk has a longstanding relationship with Dogecoin, having been one of its early supporters and promoters. With Dogecoin now firmly established in the market, speculation is rife about whether Tesla will adopt the meme token. When asked about this in a recent interview, Musk responded, "At some point, Tesla should enable that."

This statement came during Musk's visit to the Tesla Berlin Gigafactory, indicating a strong possibility that the electric car giant will eventually accept Dogecoin as a form of payment.

Dogecoin emerged in 2013 as a playful cryptocurrency inspired by the popular Shiba meme, quickly garnering global attention. Its profile received a significant boost in 2019 when Musk declared it his favorite crypto on Twitter, leading to a surge in its market value.

Although Dogecoin reached its peak in May 2021, trading at 73 cents per DOGE, it currently hovers around 20 cents per coin. Musk's recent reaffirmation of support for Dogecoin during his Berlin speech, with the rallying cry of "DOGE to the moon," has reignited discussions among crypto enthusiasts.

Tesla has previously accepted Bitcoin as a payment method, albeit temporarily. While Musk expressed concerns about Bitcoin's carbon footprint, Dogecoin presents a potentially greener alternative due to its consensus model, which generates emissions on a smaller scale compared to Bitcoin.
