Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, recently sparked a discussion within the cryptocurrency community by posting a "hypothetical poll" on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The poll questioned whether users would be interested in seeing an integration between Cardano and Bitcoin Cash.

The poll, which received over 12,000 votes within its first 24 hours, asked: "Would you like to see Bitcoin Cash become a Cardano Partnerchain upgraded with Useful Proof of Work Leios, NiPoPoWs, and Ergo tech, thus being the fastest and most useful proof of work chain ever built?"

As of the time of this article's publication, the poll results showed a 66.3% majority voting "yes" to the proposed integration, with 8,301 votes in favor and 4,212 against.

While Hoskinson labeled the poll as "hypothetical," the use of social media platforms like X for gauging community sentiment and potentially steering decision-making has become more prevalent, especially since Elon Musk's acquisition of the platform.

Ben Scherrey, the founder and CTO of blockchain firm Biggest Lab, expressed support for the move, stating that he had "always thought there was some natural synergy between the two chains given the shared UTXO model that allows for high scalability and decentralization."

However, the specifics of how such a partnership between Cardano and Bitcoin Cash would form and function remain unclear. Hoskinson's use of the term "partnerchain" implies that Bitcoin Cash would have to be bridged or cross-chained in some form to operate with the proposed upgrades, such as Useful Proof of Work Leios, NiPoPoWs, and Ergo tech.

Assuming both development teams could reach an agreement on the technical aspects of the partnership, there would still need to be a consensus among stakeholders and developers from both projects.

Hoskinson's discourse on social media comes as Cardano prepares for two "major upgrades" in 2024. As Cointelegraph recently reported, the company is planning for the "Chang" hard fork slated for the second quarter of 2024, as well as a new proof-of-stake model called "Ouroboros Leios."

The pending upgrades were lauded by Hoskinson in his response to an April 7 video posted by crypto influencer Ben "Bitboy" Armstrong, in which Armstrong referred to Cardano as "dead."

While the X poll serves as a gauge of community interest, the potential integration between Cardano and Bitcoin Cash would require significant technical collaboration and alignment between the two projects. Hoskinson's proposal has reignited discussions about interoperability and partnerships within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
