Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano and a co-founder of Ethereum, recently lauded Bitcoin, emphasizing it as the culmination of five decades of technological advancements and innovation. Hoskinson highlighted that Bitcoin's creation, and the rise of the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem, are not isolated incidents but rather the results of long-term developments in multiple scientific fields.

In his statement, Hoskinson detailed how advancements in cryptography, computer science, and network theory over the past fifty years have collectively paved the way for blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. He pointed out that the development of public key cryptography in the 1970s, the establishment of peer-to-peer networks in the early 2000s, and other key technological milestones all contributed to Bitcoin's emergence in 2009.

"Great ideas aren't the product of sudden inspiration but rather a gradual connection of decades of concepts and progress. Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency industry are the end result of five decades of innovation," Hoskinson stated. He illustrated this point with an image titled "Bitcoin and the Rise of Cypherpunks," depicting the steady progression from cryptography to the advent of proof-of-work systems, smart contracts, and ultimately Bitcoin.

Cardano's Ongoing Governance Evolution

In addition to his reflections on Bitcoin, Hoskinson also highlighted Cardano's ongoing advancements in governance. Intersect, a member-based organization within the Cardano ecosystem, is calling for applications from the Cardano community to join the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC). This committee, consisting of seven members, will be responsible for upholding the interim constitution and guiding the community through the transitional phase known as "Chang."

The Chang upgrade marks the beginning of a technical governance bootstrapping phase for Cardano. This phase includes integrating decentralized representatives (DReps) and others into the on-chain governance framework. The interim period will also involve drafting a new constitution, which is expected to be ratified on-chain by early 2025.
