Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, announced that the blockchain is approaching its most significant milestone yet, with the upcoming Chang fork paving the way for what he terms the "Age of Voltaire."

In a social media update on June 9, Hoskinson indicated:

"Cardano Node is on track to reach version 9.0 in June. Once 70 percent of the SPOs install the new node, Cardano will be Chang fork ready, marking the transition into the Age of Voltaire."

The Chang upgrade represents a crucial step for Cardano, introducing essential tools and infrastructure to support the Age of Voltaire. This era aims to achieve network self-sustainability by empowering participants to propose improvements through stakeholder voting, utilizing existing staking and delegation processes.

Voltaire also establishes a treasury system funded by a portion of transaction fees to finance future network development. Once operational, these governance systems will decentralize Cardano fully, transitioning away from IOHK’s management to community-driven governance.

Hoskinson emphasized:

"This marks the most significant milestone in Cardano's history and for the blockchain industry. It positions Cardano as a decentralized global civilization with advanced blockchain governance, annual budgets, a treasury, and community wisdom guiding its evolution."

Impact on ADA

While Hoskinson focuses on technological advancements, many ADA holders are concerned about its impact on ADA's price. ADA has faced challenges this year, briefly dropping out of the top 10 digital assets by market capitalization at times.

Despite market fluctuations, Hoskinson remains optimistic about Cardano's robust fundamentals, anticipating positive growth for the digital asset.
