Chinese President Xi Jinping has publicly lauded Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, chief scientist at the Conflux network and distinguished professor at Tsinghua University, in a recent open letter, underscoring Yao's significant contributions to blockchain technology and education in China.

In the letter dated June 12, President Xi expressed admiration for Yao's dedication to his homeland over the past two decades since returning to China. Highlighting Yao's pivotal role at Tsinghua University, Xi praised his profound impact on education, scientific research, and fostering innovative talent. Xi conveyed his heartfelt appreciation, stating, "You have turned your patriotism into a journey of serving the country."

Encouraging Yao to further his endeavors, Xi urged him to explore independent models for nurturing innovative talents, promoting interdisciplinary innovation, and contributing to China's technological self-reliance. The president reaffirmed his support for Yao's efforts in advancing education and science and technology within the country.

Conflux, where Yao serves as chief scientist, operates as a layer-1 blockchain utilizing a hybrid proof-of-work and proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. Supported by the Conflux Foundation, also known as the Shanghai Tree-Graph Blockchain Research Institute, the platform is endorsed by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and is recognized as China's sole regulatory-compliant public blockchain.

Notably, Conflux recently spearheaded the development of a new public blockchain infrastructure platform, launched on April 1 under China's initiative for the Belt and Road Initiative. Designed to facilitate cross-border applications, this initiative aims to provide a foundational public blockchain infrastructure to support international cooperation projects.

Despite China's stringent regulations on cryptocurrencies and initial coin offerings (ICOs), Conflux continues to operate its native token. Currently trading at $0.1947 with a fully diluted market capitalization of $975 million, Conflux stands as a unique entity in China's blockchain ecosystem, emphasizing compliance and strategic government support in its operations.
