The creator of stablecoins, Circle, has increased support for USD Coin USDC, its native stablecoin.

Circle stated on April 9 that "many top ecosystem apps and DeFi protocols are expected to support native USDC on zkSync for payments, trading, borrowing, and lending." With USDC on zkSync, developers can build on a solid base that is formally endorsed by Circle and made to last. Now that zkSync has been added, 16 blockchains—including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, and others—support USDC.

According to Circle, "zkSync is on a mission to help businesses and developers benefit from fast, low-cost transactions and native account abstraction."

Although it has occasionally stopped these initiatives, Circle has primarily been extending USDC access to other blockchains. Circle abruptly stopped minting USDC on the Tron blockchain on February 21. The company did not provide a rationale for the change, merely stating that it "continually assesses the suitability of all blockchains" as part of its risk management procedure.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Justin Sun and the Tron Foundation last year, claiming that Sun engaged in manipulative trading and marketed unregistered securities. Sun disputes these claims.
