Circle has become the first major issuer to achieve compliance with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations; a significant development for the global stablecoin market. This news, signals a major step forward for the company and the broader cryptocurrency landscape in Europe.

Circle's authorization as an e-money institution (EMI) by the French prudential regulator, ACPR, marks a pivotal moment. This EMI license allows Circle to issue both EURC and USDC through its regulated French entity in a MiCA-compliant way. Such compliance ensures that Circle's stablecoins meet the stringent standards set by EU regulators, enhancing their legitimacy and trustworthiness in the market.

With this new authorization, Circle is launching Circle Mint Accounts, enabling EU customers to directly access and redeem USDC and EURC in a MiCA-compliant manner. These accounts will integrate seamlessly with common EU payment systems like SEPA and SEPA Instant, making it easier for customers to interact with stablecoins.
