As the $7.5 billion token merger involving SingularityNet, Fetch.ai, and Ocean Protocol progresses, Coinbase has decided not to support the migration of Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI) tokens for its users. This decision impacts holders of Ocean (OCEAN) and Fetch.ai (FET) tokens, which are set to merge into ASI tokens starting July.

The merger plan entails migrating OCEAN tokens into FET initially on July 1, followed by the conversion of resultant FET tokens into ASI later in the month. While some crypto service providers will facilitate automatic token conversion for their users, Coinbase has stated that it will not execute this migration on behalf of its users.

Instead, Coinbase users are advised to manage their token migration independently using self-custodial wallets like Coinbase Wallet. This approach ensures compatibility across major software wallets, allowing for a seamless transition from OCEAN and FET to ASI tokens once the migration process commences.

Fetch.ai, one of the entities involved in the merger, announced earlier that the conversion rate from FET to ASI tokens will be 1:1. This means holders of FET tokens will receive ASI tokens in an equivalent amount without needing to take additional action beyond ensuring their tokens are in a compatible wallet during the migration period.

The ASI token merger aims to create a unified platform for decentralized AI protocols, designed to operate independently of centralized control. This initiative represents a significant step towards establishing a robust ecosystem where blockchain technology powers AI advancements without reliance on traditional centralized entities.

Following the merger announcement, both FET and AGIX tokens experienced a notable market rally, with gains exceeding 30% on June 20 after a period of decline.
