Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has called for concerted efforts to achieve regulatory clarity for the crypto industry by endorsing pro-crypto political candidates and voting out those opposed to crypto, as stated in a June 3 blog post titled “How to get regulatory clarity for crypto.”

Armstrong emphasized Coinbase’s significant investment in policy advocacy and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuing these efforts over the next decade as global crypto regulations evolve.

“We are actively involved in policy efforts to defend our customers’ rights and promote economic freedom,” Armstrong stated.

In addressing the current political landscape, Armstrong outlined two primary strategies for achieving regulatory certainty: establishing new legal precedents through court cases and enacting new legislation through Congress. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the divided government, noting that progress often hinges on whether the consequences of inaction outweigh decisive action.

To overcome these obstacles, Armstrong called for bipartisan collaboration to elect lawmakers supportive of crypto and remove those who oppose it from office. He highlighted that the crypto community, comprising 52 million Americans who own digital assets, represents a diverse demographic spanning age, race, and political affiliations.

“Crypto is a genuinely bipartisan issue with significant support from both sides,” Armstrong asserted.

Armstrong underscored the critical role of upcoming elections in shaping crypto legislation, noting the influence of grassroots movements like StandWithCrypto.org, backed by Coinbase. This movement has mobilized over 900,000 advocates across the country, particularly in battleground states such as Georgia and Arizona. These advocates actively engage with their representatives, influencing key legislative decisions like SAB121 and FIT21.

Looking ahead, Coinbase plans to expand StandWithCrypto.org’s reach to over 1 million advocates by Labor Day, providing resources such as candidate evaluations, tools for contacting lawmakers, donation avenues, and assistance with voter registration.

Armstrong emphasized the importance of supporting pro-crypto candidates in crucial political races for the House, Senate, and Presidency, stressing the need for clear regulations that protect consumers and foster innovation within the United States.

“52 million Americans own crypto assets and seek clear regulations that ensure consumer protection and encourage innovation on American soil,” Armstrong concluded, emphasizing the necessity of updating financial infrastructure to promote economic freedom.
