Coinbase International Exchange is set to introduce BRC-20 token Ordinals (ORDI) and Worldcoin perpetual futures to its institutional clients. The announcement, made on April 5, reveals that these products will be available for trading starting April 11, catering specifically to institutional investors on the Coinbase International platform.

ORDI experienced a remarkable surge of 1,640%, escalating from $5 on November 1, 2023, to a peak of $87 on March 5, driven by a fervor for Ordinals-related assets that emerged towards the end of last year. It's important to note that the Ordinals (ORDI) token is distinct from the Bitcoin Ordinals deployer and the Ordinals team, being a separate BRC-20 token that draws its name from the Ordinals protocol.

Concurrently, Worldcoin emerged as a favored choice among cryptocurrency investors seeking exposure to the AI sector, witnessing a substantial rise from $2.20 on February 7 to a high of $11.70 on March 10, according to data from CoinGecko. Worldcoin's native token, WLD, is integral to the Worldcoin project, which offers digital identity solutions in exchange for users sharing their biometric data for a digital ID.

The recent announcement by Coinbase adds to the growing list of perpetual futures contracts available on its international platform tailored for institutional clients. Perpetual futures, also known as perpetual swaps, are derivative contracts that enable traders to speculate on asset prices without a set expiration date. The approval process for these futures contracts is contingent on the specific product being offered.

In a move to expand its offerings, Coinbase International Exchange included futures contracts for Wormhole's native token (W) on April 4, coinciding with an $850 million airdrop to early users of the cross-chain bridge. Additionally, plans were quietly made on March 21 to list futures contracts for Litecoin (LTC) and the meme token Dogecoin (DOGE), with Coinbase emphasizing the evolution of Dogecoin from an online joke to a recognized digital asset.

It's worth noting that Coinbase intends to utilize the "self-certification" approach to launch these futures contracts without official approval from the CFTC, provided they adhere to the regulatory guidelines stipulated by the agency. This strategy allows Coinbase to introduce new products swiftly while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
