CF Benchmarks predicts that despite a slow start, crypto ETFs in Hong Kong will accumulate over $1 billion in assets by the end of 2024. The company, a prominent figure in crypto benchmarking managing $24 billion in assets, aims to extend its operations to South Korea and Israel. CF Benchmarks, showcasing financial strength, plans to bolster its workforce by one-third to back its expansion plans.

While the trading volume initially saw a modest beginning, CF Benchmarks, a subdivision of Kraken cryptocurrency exchange, anticipates that by the conclusion of 2024, crypto ETFs in Hong Kong will possess assets totaling over $1 billion. The London-headquartered company, specialized in providing benchmark data primarily for Bitcoin products such as BlackRock's IBIT, presently supervises around $24 billion in assets. Profits are derived from licensing its indexes to funds, with fees escalating as assets under management expand.

Strategic Collaborations and Growth Initiatives

CF Benchmarks is actively teaming up with recently launched ETFs in Hong Kong to emulate achievements witnessed in other markets. CEO Sui Chung envisions similar offerings being introduced in South Korea and Israel due to the growing popularity of ETFs as a means of long-term savings in these areas. Previously, the organization had foreseen $5 billion in U.S. spot-Bitcoin ETF assets utilizing its benchmarks by 2023, but these projections have been surpassed, quadrupling the original estimates.

The launching of U.S. ETFs earlier in the year played a role in driving Bitcoin nearly to $74,000 in March. However, the value of the cryptocurrency has since fluctuated, showcasing the volatile nature of digital assets. Recent U.S. ETFs faced notable daily net outflows, impacting the overall assets under management, currently standing at an approximate $47 billion.

Revenue and Expansion Initiatives

CF Benchmarks highlights robust financial health, with revenues hitting £6 million ($7.5 million) in 2022. Expecting sustained growth, the company aims to exceed 40 employees, corresponding to a one-third increase in its team size. This growth aligns with its broader strategy to enrich its benchmarking services and retain a firm footing in the market.

The introduction of Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in Hong Kong signifies a new era for cryptocurrency investments in the region. Managed by local and international entities such as Harvest Global Investments and a collaboration between HashKey Capital and Bosera Asset Management, these ETFs are poised to pique interest, echoing the growth trajectory outlined by CF Benchmarks.
