After a significant pause lasting over 50 hours, Degen Chain, the Ethereum layer-3 blockchain tailored for meme coins, has successfully restored its services following a two-day hiatus.

Beginning at 20:15 UTC on May 12, the blockchain encountered a crippling outage, rendering it unable to validate transactions or generate new blocks for an extended period. This interruption in operations left users unable to conduct transactions or engage with the platform's functionalities.

Degen Chain's infrastructure is heavily reliant on Conduit, a rollup infrastructure platform, which plays a pivotal role in managing transactions and ensuring data availability. Rollups, by processing transactions off-chain before submitting them to the Ethereum network, enhance operational efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness. Leveraging Conduit's capabilities, Degen Chain operates as a layer-3 blockchain, capable of handling substantial transaction volumes.

In an official announcement on May 14, Degen Chain disclosed its collaboration with Conduit to address the root cause of the downtime, which Conduit attributed to a "custom config change" that impeded block production for Degen Chain.

Since its launch earlier this year, Degen Chain has rapidly gained traction within the meme coin ecosystem, achieving a remarkable $100 million in trading volume amidst the prevailing meme coin frenzy. As per DefiLlama data, the chain currently boasts a market capitalization just shy of $200 million, with a total locked value of $2.17 million.

However, the prolonged service interruption took its toll on the native token of Degen Chain, DEGEN, resulting in a 6% decline in its value to $0.16. Despite this setback, the platform's swift resolution of the technical issues signifies its resilience and commitment to maintaining uninterrupted services for its user base.
