In the ongoing saga surrounding El Salvador's state-operated Bitcoin wallet, Chivo, hackers have disclosed more sensitive information linked to the wallet. The group known as CiberInteligenciaSV released a portion of the source code on the BreachForums hacking forum.

This development comes after a series of Chivo-related hack incidents, including the exposure of personal data of 5.1 million Salvadorans, which nearly encompasses the entire adult population of the country. Local cybersecurity entity VenariX had previously warned the public about the impending leak, citing announcements from CiberInteligenciaSV’s Telegram channel.

CiberInteligenciaSV's Telegram post indicated intentions to release the source code and VPN access pertaining to Chivo Wallet for free. The group also shared a file named Codigo.rar, containing a compilation of code and VPN credentials from the Chivo Wallet ATM network.

El Salvador made headlines in September 2021 by becoming the first nation to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, with Chivo promoted as the official BTC wallet. The platform facilitates Bitcoin transactions, including buying, selling, and withdrawing BTC from ATMs.

Despite the government's endorsement of Chivo, the wallet encountered initial challenges, with users reporting various bugs and technical issues.
