It's uncertain whether X will incorporate any cryptocurrencies for payments, including XRP.

A validator on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), known as Vet, has dismissed claims about Elon Musk's X social media platform testing XRP payments. These rumors emerged after a transaction labeled "Musk" was spotted on the network.

However, Vet clarified that no authorization is needed from Musk for using this label. "Anyone can label their account as Musk or JPM without proof," he noted.

X is set to introduce peer-to-peer payments this year, but it's unclear whether cryptocurrencies will be supported on the platform. Dogecoin is considered the most likely option, making the idea of XRP being used for payments on X seem improbable.

A fix on the way

An amendment aims to add Decentralized Identifier (DID) functionality to the ledger. This is expected to resolve the impersonation issue.

The amendment aligns with World Wide Web standards and provides users with a digital identity not reliant on any central authority.

DIDs are decentralized and cryptographically verifiable, ensuring they are tamper-evident.

An account holder can generate a DID for signing digital documents, making transactions, and logging into websites.

An XRPL user's identity would be verified through a DID document containing cryptographic public keys. Only those who control private keys can modify the document's content. Users are advised against including personal information in these documents.
