Energy Web, a collective utilizing decentralized open-source technologies to accelerate the energy transition, is expanding its reach to the Polkadot blockchain network. This move will allow Energy Web to establish the framework for its groundbreaking Energy Web X technology. Energy majors like Shell, Vodafone, Volkswagen, and RMI can leverage this to advance their decarbonization strategies.

Energy Web has collaborated with major energy firms and non-profits across 25+ countries to create digital solutions focused on two areas: 1) Aiding utilities in digitizing and integrating distributed energy resources into the grid, and 2) Bringing transparency and verifiability to emerging green product supply chains like renewable electricity, sustainable aviation fuel, and sustainably-produced Bitcoin.

To cultivate an ecosystem around the global energy transition, Energy Web is now vying for a parachain slot on Polkadot's network. Energy Web X will unveil more details at the Polkadot Decoded summit in Copenhagen on June 28-29, which will also host a regulatory panel including the Energy Web Foundation's Vice Chair.

Several prominent projects spanning DeFi, privacy, social media, sustainability, NFTs, gaming and metaverse have already integrated with Polkadot, which provides the technical advancements for a practical, scalable, future-proof and interoperable blockchain ecosystem to realize Web3.

As a non-profit, Energy Web develops open-source solutions around its public Energy Web Chain blockchain, low-carbon tracking tools and data exchange platform - working with utilities, grid operators, large energy buyers, automakers, IoT providers and telcos.
