Equilibrium Group, a prominent blockchain engineering firm known for its pivotal role in projects like Ethereum and Solana, has unveiled Equilibrium Ventures and its inaugural fund, Equilibrium Ventures Fund I. The fund aims to raise 30 million euros (approximately $32.5 million).

Founded in 2018, Equilibrium Group initially conducted investments from its own balance sheet before formalizing its venture capital arm. Mika Honkasalo, investment partner at Equilibrium Ventures, highlighted the natural progression towards establishing a dedicated fund to expand their investment activities.

Equilibrium Ventures Fund I has already secured 20% of its target through initial commitments, including support from Equilibrium Group and key limited partners such as Sebastien Borget from The Sandbox and Jigeum Capital. The fund expects to complete fundraising by year-end, bolstered by growing investor confidence in blockchain technologies.

One of Equilibrium Ventures' key strengths lies in its deep technical expertise, supported by a global team of over 80 blockchain specialists. This team has been instrumental in developing innovative projects like EUROe, an EU-regulated stablecoin, and Gevulot, a zero-knowledge proofing startup.

Led by a seasoned team including Henrik Sundvik and Christopher Ahn, Equilibrium Ventures focuses on supporting startups at the forefront of technological advancement. Their investment strategy prioritizes pioneering technologies such as zero-knowledge fully homomorphic encryption.

Honkasalo articulated Equilibrium Ventures' forward-looking thesis, predicting significant advancements in blockchain scalability and integration with real-world economies. The fund plans to deploy its capital over the next 24 months, targeting early-stage projects with investments ranging from $250,000 to $1 million per startup.
