The team lead criticized the increasing trend of tweaking core protocol rules to appease regulators, which he believes could compromise Ethereum's decentralization and censorship resistance. Szilágyi argued that this approach risks transforming Ethereum into a traditional finance (TradFi) clone, sacrificing its core tenets.

Szilágyi specifically highlighted the Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) issue, where validators can manipulate transaction orders within blocks to extract value. He believes that instead of addressing this issue, developers are focusing on catering to proprietary MEV builders, potentially leading to centralization and undermining decentralization.

Moreover, Szilágyi expressed concerns about the rise of liquid staking solutions like Lido Finance, which could concentrate network control in the hands of a few operators over time.
