Lens Protocol undergoes a transformative shift as it introduces the innovative SocialFi Lens Network, a platform built on zkSync’s ZK Stack hyperchains. Originally crafted by Lens Lab under Avara, Lens Protocol now advances into Layer-2 development, incorporating Matter Labs’ ZK Stack to enhance transaction efficiency and scalability.

The launch of the SocialFi Lens Network signifies a significant milestone for Lens, expanding upon the groundwork established by the initial Lens Protocol within zkSync’s ZK Stack hyperchains. Spearheaded by the team affiliated with the prominent DeFi entity Aave, Lens Protocol ventures into Layer-2 development with the vision of fostering a network of SocialFi applications.

Transitioning from its current operation on the Polygon Proof-of-Stake chain, Lens is poised to elevate its functionality with the introduction of Lens Network. This new protocol, empowered by Matter Labs’ versatile ZK Stack infrastructure, will implement a hybrid Layer-2 solution to seamlessly interact with various blockchains, catering to developers seeking to create applications within the Lens Network ecosystem.

Lens Network prioritizes high transaction throughput for mainstream consumer applications, ensuring cost-effective transactions while embracing account abstraction to enable gas-free and no-login transactions for users. While Momoka, a Layer-3 Optimism solution introduced by Lens in April 2023, will remain operational, Lens encourages application migration to Lens Network as it plans to phase out Momoka.
