They emphasized that Salame did not play a central role in the fraud and lost much of his personal fortune when FTX collapsed.

Salame's lawyers also highlighted his community work and commitment to making a positive impact. According to the filing, those who know Salame regard him as an outstanding community member who makes significant contributions. Additionally, Salame has struggled with drug abuse, which his attorneys hope will be taken into consideration during sentencing.

In contrast, FTX's former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, was sentenced to nearly 25 years in prison for defrauding customers. Salame did not testify against his former boss during the trial. His attorneys hope that the court will consider his cooperation and relatively minor role in the fraud when determining his sentence.
