Fireblocks, an infrastructure provider for digital assets, has expanded its service offerings through a new partnership with Coinbase International Exchange. This collaboration enables Fireblocks to support derivatives and trading products for both institutional and retail investors.

According to a June 10 announcement, the Fireblocks platform now includes the capability for trading perpetual futures and spot contracts with Coinbase International Exchange. This expansion primarily targets institutional investors such as hedge funds, trading firms, and family offices.

The newly introduced services promise several benefits for users, including the ability to trade perpetual and spot contracts under pre-defined governance policies and workflows designed to mitigate security risks and unauthorized transactions. Perpetual trading allows investors to speculate on future price changes without an end date or the obligation to own the asset, in contrast to spot trading where assets are bought or sold immediately.

However, these new trading capabilities are limited to users in "eligible jurisdictions" outside the United States. Coinbase International, based in Bermuda, does not specify on its website or in its Terms of Service which countries are eligible.

Fireblocks' expansion comes at a time when the current crypto bull market provides ample growth opportunities. Recently, the company launched a custodian arm in the United States to meet the increasing institutional demand for digital assets. Initially, this new entity will offer custody services for Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and three stablecoins, with plans to add more assets under the regulations of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).

The digital assets market is anticipated to grow further as traditional investors and financial institutions increasingly participate in the space. Asset tokenization is highlighted as a key development for enhancing overall market liquidity. Additionally, institutional interest in diversifying portfolios with crypto assets underscores the growing institutional foothold in the crypto industry.

Fireblocks' platform has handled transactions worth over $6 trillion for more than 200 million wallets globally. The company serves over 30 exchanges and 55 banks in the digital asset sector, indicating its significant role in the market.

This strategic move by Fireblocks, facilitated by the partnership with Coinbase International, reflects the ongoing evolution and expansion of the digital assets ecosystem, providing enhanced trading options and security for a growing base of institutional and retail investors.
