Introduction

The Blockchain known as Hive (Hive.io) has a big Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), a lot of games, social media platforms for different post formats, communities, and an array of Dapps. On top of this, it is making strides and hoping to lead or be one of the leaders of the Web 3 revolution.

It was founded on the 20th of March, 2020, after a split from Steemit. A huge chunk of the communities and devs on Steemit left to form Hive due to the centralization perpetrated by Justin Sun after he bought Steemit from its founder.

With all the development and day-to-day activities going on on the Hive Blockchain, including the fact that Splinterlands, one of the most popular crypto games was built on it, it has remained relatively less popular than the other Blockchains. But it is still doing impressive numbers regardless.

NFTs on Hive

On Hive there are a lot of games and Dapps utilizing NFTs, but of course, the major concern is an NFT market. Nftshowroom is the main NFT market on Hive. There you can buy, sell, and collect NFTs.

As an artist, minting NFTs on platforms can be costly, with one having to pay minting fees, percentages, etc. On Hive there are two options, one is almost free and the other is actually free.

The almost free option is for those who want to Mint on the main NFT market on Hive (NFTshowroom), and the free option is for those who want on a second layer NFT marketplace known as the Proof of Brain (POB) NFT Marketplace.

The price to Mint on here is just 5 Hive (the native token of the Blockchain is also called Hive). At the time of writing, one Hive is $0.33, so 5 Hive is just $1.65. That's really cheap!

But that's not all. If you can't afford 5 Hive, you can still earn it for free by making posts on the Hive social blogging platform called Hive.blog. There your posts can get votes which would earn you free Hive that you can use to Mint your NFT.

Proof of Brain (POB) NFT Marketplace

This marketplace belongs to the layer 2 community called Proof of Brain (POB). Here, the price for minting NFTs is 1000 POB tokens. 1 POB is currently $0.0057, so 1000 = $5.7. So why did I say it was free?

Because there is a project called POBscholarship! This was started by a kind user known as @mineopoly. It is meant to help anyone who wants to Mint with the 1000 POB required for minting. The money comes from community donations and if the funds are low, it can be made up with votes that convert to POB tokens.

All one has to do is own a Hive account and then apply for POBscholarship! The funds would be gifted to you, or, if the funds are not available, the posts you make about your NFT project would receive votes which converts to POB tokens.

Conclusion

Even though one is not trying to escape the fees of other NFT marketplaces, it might still be a good idea to have NFTs in multiple marketplaces, so these options are very good places to have your NFTs in. The more markets a product is in, the more its reach, and the more its reach, the higher its chances of selling.
