Originating in the 19th century, the French branch of the Rothschild family gained prominence by establishing a formidable banking network throughout Europe. Through their financial ventures, the family, along with its various branches, amassed significant wealth and wielded considerable influence. This historical backdrop has fueled numerous conspiracy theories, often involving the Rothschild name, including those linked to the Illuminati.

Presently, it has come to light that Edmond de Rothschild Holding S.A., the parent entity of the Edmond de Rothschild Group, has ventured into the domain of spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) shares. The disclosed records indicate that Edmond de Rothschild Holding S.A. has acquired shares of IBIT and GBTC valued at approximately $3.6 million. This investment initiative, spearheaded by the Rothschild family of French banking heritage, aligns them with other notable entities such as Truist Financial, JPMorgan, Susquehanna International Group, PNC Bank, the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, and Wells Fargo, all of which also have stakes in spot bitcoin ETFs.

Speculation surrounding the Rothschilds and their potential involvement in GBTC shares surfaced as early as 2017. At that time, there were rumors suggesting that a company purportedly linked to the Rothschilds had invested in GBTC shares. However, the Rothschild Investment Corporation (RIC), which reported its GBTC holdings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), had no affiliation with the esteemed Rothschild family. RIC operated independently from the Rothschild banking dynasty, yet this did not quell the widespread speculation, which continued unabated across platforms like X and Reddit forums.
