GameStop, the beloved American game retailer, has found itself on a rollercoaster ride once again. The company has erased its Month-to-Date (MTD) gains, leaving investors puzzled and concerned. This latest development comes amid the absence of the influential figure known as Roaring Kitty, who has once again gone underground.

The GameStop stock price has been on a downward trajectory in recent weeks, with the losses deepening due to the lack of Roaring Kitty's presence. According to Yahoo Finance, GME was trading at $23.09 at the time of writing, down nearly 3% from Monday's closing price and 7% over the past week. This latest loss has pushed GameStop stock into a monthly dip of just over 3%, representing approximately $0.75.

The stock's performance is a stark contrast to its recent highs. In early June, GameStop stock reached a monthly high of $46.55, coinciding with the revelation that Gill had acquired a position worth almost $600 million. The GME stock price saw a remarkable 47.45% increase in a single day, closing the trading session at $46.55 on June 6. However, this surge was short-lived, as Gill later announced a loss of $350 million in profits as the GameStop stock price dropped by 50% within two days.

GameStop's CEO, Ryan Cohen, has recently informed investors of the company's plans to pivot towards profitability. He hinted at operating smaller networks of stores nationwide, a move that caused the stock's value to plunge further. GameStop shares went down by 13.4% and traded at $24.86 following the announcement.

Despite the challenges, Gill ultimately exercised some of his GME options, boosting his holding of shares from 5 million to just over 9 million. This move would have been worth some $206 million as of this writing. However, rumors of Gill joining GameStop's board were dashed last week when the shareholders meeting was delayed due to high trader demand on the game streaming platform.
