Recent reports suggest that Gemini, the AI-driven virtual assistant, might soon incorporate a new feature allowing users to interact with third-party music streaming platforms like Spotify. As per insights from Android Authority, Google is in the process of introducing a "Music" option within the Gemini Settings menu, enabling users to designate their preferred music services. However, this functionality remains dormant at present.

Outlined within the Gemini app's settings menu for specific Android devices, the "Music" option is visible, albeit leading to a blank page, indicating its ongoing development phase. Once fully integrated, this feature is poised to empower the Gemini AI assistant to execute music playback commands through third-party apps like Spotify or Amazon Music.

Previously, Google Assistant, the predecessor to Gemini on Android devices, boasted compatibility with various third-party streaming platforms for music playback. The launch of the standalone Gemini app in February by Google aimed to supersede its precursor, Google Assistant, offering enhanced generative AI capabilities like image and text generation, text summarization, among others. Nonetheless, Gemini currently falls short in certain functionalities compared to Google Assistant. The imminent inclusion of the Music feature could potentially mitigate some of these limitations.

Despite the lack of specifics regarding the rollout timeline, it is anticipated that the Music feature will become accessible to users in the near future. Meanwhile, Android smartphone users retain the option to revert to Google Assistant directly from within the Gemini app, which continues to support music playback commands for platforms such as Spotify, YouTube Music, and more.
