This announcement comes on the heels of a significant financial contribution from Gemini’s founders, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who donated $2 million to former President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign on June 20, 2024.

This latest endeavor by Gemini underscores the growing political engagement of the cryptocurrency sector. Tyler Winklevoss, moments before the announcement, delivered a scathing critique of President Joe Biden's administration, accusing it of stifling the cryptocurrency industry. "The crime is always success and the reward is always ridicule, fines, and even more red tape," he stated, arguing that the administration is only supportive of success it can control.

Winklevoss further elaborated, "Once it figures out how to confiscate or coerce it, the Biden Administration becomes quite enthusiastic about success, gleefully manipulating it or redistributing it in a transparent attempt to buy votes." He concluded with a dire warning: "Over a long enough time scale, it's easy to see how these policies will lead to the destruction of our economy and our country."

Gemini’s campaign finance project is part of a broader wave of political activism within the crypto community. Earlier in June, Coinbase's "Stand with Crypto" political action committee (PAC) announced a significant milestone, having collected 1 million advocate signatures from pro-crypto voters, reflecting a substantial grassroots movement.
