U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler recently provided significant insights into the ongoing Ethereum ETF approval process during a one-on-one interview at the Bloomberg Invest Summit in New York. Gensler indicated that the approval process for several Ethereum (ETH) ETF applications is progressing "smoothly," although he refrained from specifying an exact timeline for when these products would start trading. He emphasized that asset managers need to make proper disclosures before launching these ETFs.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas has forecasted that Ethereum ETF products could be launched on July 2, a prediction bolstered by VanEck’s latest filing. This development comes after the SEC took the cryptocurrency industry by surprise in May with the unexpected approval of 19b-4 forms, marking the initial step in the approval process. The SEC now needs to greenlight numerous S-1 registration forms to enable Ethereum ETFs to officially go live.

In late May, banking giant JPMorgan predicted that these yet-to-be-launched products would not attract the same level of interest as their Bitcoin counterparts, which saw record-breaking demand earlier this year. Analysts from JPMorgan expect Ethereum ETFs to garner approximately $3 billion in inflows this year, a modest figure compared to the substantial inflows recorded by Bitcoin ETFs.
