What is Diagon?

Diagon is a social gaming platform built on the blockchain aimed at rewarding users for playing games.

Founded in 2019, this Nigerian play-to-earn platform focuses on providing a gamified loyalty experience for its users. Essentially, users earn points on Diagon by playing these casual games, and these points are converted into tokens, which are then rewarded back to the users, fostering a loyalty experience.

When asked about what Diagon entails, Onojah gave an overview of the platform by saying,

"We started as an E-sport company. Over time, we started thinking of a more consistent model. We started re-strategizing and considered so many options whereby, people wouldn't have to physically converge. Consequently, we transitioned into casual games. So we thought of the possibility of people playing games on their mobile devices, where everyone could participate in challenges to achieve the highest score. The system records these scores. That's how we morphed into casual gaming itself in 2021."

Features on Diagon

Play-to-Earn: With this feature, all users of the Diagon Dapp get to accumulate points the more they play games and interact with the platform.

Leaderboard: Weekly challenges are available on the platform. As a user, the more points you gather by playing and interacting with these games, the higher your chances of topping the leaderboard. Players with the highest scores get rewarded at the end of the week. This creates a more competitive gaming system.

Marketplace: The marketplace feature enables users to shop for digital assets like gift cards, which they can discount using the points accumulated on the diagon platform. eventually, the marketplace aims to become a decentralized digital store where users can continue shopping for various digital assets such as airtime, data, and gift cards within the diagon platform.

Jeremiah Onojah, when asked if users can pay with Crypto or Fiat money, responded,

"Part of our goal is to support multiple payment options on the platform. In Nigeria, over 90% of the population have not yet started making payments with crypto; what they understand is the regular traditional bank transactions. We are looking forward to supporting multiple payment options such as crypto and bank transfers."

As they scale the startup phase, Diagon aims to produce more casual games on decentralized platform, aiming to reward users for their passion for gaming and also creating a functional marketplace place where users can trade digital assets in crypto or fiat money. Subsequently, adopting more people to the blockchain ecosystem in Nigeria.

When asked about his motivation for building Diagon, Jeremiah said,

"Gaming itself is entertaining. I've always envisioned the possibility of doing more. What if, you know, you could actually be rewarded for playing games? What if your time spent gaming could be converted into monetary rewards? "
