Google has incorporated Ethereum Name Service (ENS) data into its search results using information sourced from Etherscan, as confirmed by CryptoSlate's tests with various ENS addresses, including Vitalik.eth, belonging to Ethereum's co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

The search results displayed details such as Ethereum balance and the timestamp of the last transaction, all gathered from the Ethereum block explorer Etherscan. ENS provides human-readable names to Ethereum blockchain resources, including crypto wallets. This development was initially shared by Brantly Millegan, a former core member of the ENS team, on X (formerly Twitter).

Google's increasing involvement in crypto and blockchain technology is evident through this move, as it previously allowed users to check Ethereum address balances directly through its search engine and featured an animated countdown to the Ethereum Merge event in 2022.

Last year, Google updated its crypto advertising policy to include "Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts," allowing investors to trade shares in trusts holding digital assets, leading to the appearance of Bitcoin ETF products from major asset managers like BlackRock in search results.

The news of Google's feature on social media has positively impacted the ENS token, reversing its recent downward trend and gaining approximately 6% in the last 24 hours to trade at $21.56, according to CryptoSlate. The ENS project has achieved significant milestones, including full decentralization and a partnership with domain registrar GoDaddy. Jeff Lau, a developer with ENS, emphasized that these developments aim to humanize web3 by providing meaningful names to crypto addresses, which serve various purposes such as farcaster IDs, crypto payment addresses, and DAO contracts.
