Grayscale, a leading Bitcoin ETF provider, has revealed details about its new spin-off fund, the Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC), which boasts a competitive fee of 0.15%, contrasting with the higher fee of its flagship product, GBTC.

According to the latest filing, Grayscale plans to allocate approximately 10% of GBTC assets to the Mini Fund, amounting to 63,204 bitcoin. Shareholders of GBTC will automatically receive shares of the BTC trust, making it a non-taxable event for existing investors.

The Bitcoin Mini Trust aims to provide GBTC investors with a lower fee alternative, aligning more closely with other approved bitcoin ETFs. This move comes as Grayscale seeks to offer investors a more cost-effective option without triggering significant tax implications for shareholders.

Grayscale's GBTC, which historically charged a 1.5% fee, transitioned to trading on NYSE Arca as a spot Bitcoin ETF in January 2024. With approximately $19.6 billion in assets under management, Grayscale remains a dominant player in the Bitcoin investment space, surpassing competitors like BlackRock's IBIT fund.
