HashKey Exchange, a cryptocurrency exchange licensed in Hong Kong, recently announced significant changes to its deposit and withdrawal policies, specifically targeting transactions linked to addresses associated with the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. This decision comes in response to alterations in platform regulations and policies, signaling a shift in HashKey's operational strategy. Previously, HashKey had exclusively allowed deposits from Binance addresses, designating it as the sole authorized third-party exchange for such transactions.

Effective from 00:00 UTC on May 10th, HashKey Exchange will cease to accept cryptocurrency deposits originating from Binance addresses. Similarly, withdrawals to Binance-related addresses will be suspended from 00:00 UTC on May 17th. However, transactions involving whitelisted unhosted wallet addresses will remain unaffected by these adjustments, ensuring continued functionality for designated users.

The exchange's initial plans had included enabling withdrawals from other exchanges such as Bybit and OKX, along with an additional 24 platforms, alongside Binance. However, HashKey has since revised its integration strategy, opting to streamline operations and focus exclusively on transactions involving Binance. Currently, withdrawals are restricted to whitelisted addresses as part of the platform's adherence to regulatory guidelines.

These regulatory measures stem from HashKey Exchange's status as a domestic platform operating within the regulatory framework of Hong Kong. The decision aligns with the city's recent implementation of the Travel Rule for virtual asset service providers (VASPs), including cryptocurrency exchanges, reflecting compliance with international standards set forth by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

**Expansion of HashKey Group's Cryptocurrency Offerings with HashKey Global Exchange**

HashKey Exchange operates under the umbrella of HashKey Group, the largest licensed cryptocurrency exchange operator in Hong Kong, renowned for its comprehensive suite of trading services catering to both professional and retail investors. Building on its success, HashKey Group unveiled its latest venture, HashKey Global Exchange, which extends trading pairs for 21 cryptocurrencies and targets qualified retail customers worldwide. However, users from mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States are excluded from accessing the platform's services, reflecting geographical restrictions.

Unlike the stringent regulatory stance on cryptocurrency trading and mining prevalent in mainland China, Hong Kong has adopted a more welcoming approach toward cryptocurrency-focused entities. In June 2023, the city introduced its cryptocurrency licensing regime for trading platforms, enabling licensed exchanges to offer retail trading services. As a result, HashKey Exchange, along with OSL, became the first two platforms to receive regulatory approval, positioning Hong Kong as an emerging hub for cryptocurrency innovation and investment.
